Scotch-Brite Marine Cleaning Disc, 9 in x 5 in 5S XCS, 2 ea/Case, Custom
Keep Your Propellers Clean
The Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc removes marine growth, tubeworms, barnacles, calcium and basal plate build-up from ship propellers. This non-woven disc offers a fast, clean method to replace costly, strong chemicals and time-consuming scraping by hand. As operators know well, propellers are an integral part of boating operations; keeping these parts clean is important for optimal boat performance. Propellers contribute to both acceleration and fuel efficiency. When weighted down by growth and debris, they cannot run as smoothly and require more fuel to sustain the same speed. Cleaning propellers helps reduce overall friction and resistance, so they can move more smoothly through the water.
Strong and Responsive
We engineer our Scotch-Brite™ Marine Cleaning Disc by combining silicon carbide mineral and non-woven nylon fibers with resin. The mineral is extra coarse (XCS), meaning it cuts especially sharp compared to finer grades. This mineral is tough enough to remove the growth that resides on propellers. Still, the non-woven nylon fibers are responsive enough to not gouge the propeller or severely alter its geometry and remove the underlying gelcoat. The disc is available in two densities, so operators can choose the right density for their propeller.
Hook and Loop Attachment
The disc has a Hook and Loop attachment for easy changeout of discs. It speeds the process by eliminating the need to work with fickle attachment systems. The hook-and-loop backing is designed to be used with hook-and-loop holder pads (sold separately). The hook-and-loop attachment acts like a cushion, providing some extra shock-absorption and buoyancy. When run under normal use, the likelihood of gouging or denting the workpiece is reduced.
The Many Benefits of Open Web Abrasives
Nonwoven technology makes our Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity.
Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
