Remove Anodized Layers on Holes
Applying anodized layers to non-ferrous metals is often an important step in many industrial applications; it helps protect the metal surface from rust and corrosion. While desirable, anodized layers can also impede strong connections between metal parts, especially where nuts and bolts are concerned. The thin layer of paint between the workpiece and bolt may inhibit the accessory’s ability to clamp down or fasten as tightly as it could. We engineered the Standard Abrasives™ P.A.R.T. GP Disc to help users tackle these issues.
The center hole on our Standard Abrasives™ P.A.R.T. GP Disc self-aligns, so users may clean the surface around the hole without damaging or removing the anodized layer from surrounding workpiece areas. Moreover, the flexible GP surface conditioning material on the disc conforms to contours, radii and I.D. areas, so users can easily maneuver the abrasive around holes. Tough, resin-reinforced nylon fibers withstand repeated wear but also break down to reveal fresh mineral, so the abrasive keeps cutting sharp and delivers a consistent cut. Interspersed with aluminum oxide mineral, it cuts aggressively while leaving a fine finish.
Small Size, Quick Change Attachment
We designed our Standard Abrasives™ P.A.R.T. GP Disc with small diameters, so it would be able to clean around even the tiniest of holes. Users can choose from a range of sizes and select the disc that’s best suited to their project needs. The P.A.R.T. GP disc features a Quick Change TS attachment, so users can easily fasten these discs to tools using a holder pad. It’s advisable for users to select a coarser grade disc when the anodized layer or corroded surface is really thick and a finer grade when the layer is thin.
Wipe Out Compounds
When removing anodized layers from metals parts, it’s common for operators to use compounds or chemicals to try and extract the special coating. This process may end up being messy, time consuming or, when removing anodized layers from holes, difficult to achieve altogether. We designed our Standard Abrasives™ P.A.R.T. GP Disc to help operators lift anodized layers from holes without doing damage to the rest of the workpiece and without having to work with messy compounds. With this paint removal disc, you can clean holes and still maintain the coating that will prevent your workpiece from corroding.
